Foundation The Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center's Foundation was asked in late 1989 to raise the funds necessary to build, equip, and endow an outpatient Cancer Care Center. One of the first gifts received was from Robert and Beverly Lewis, a gift of $1 million. During the course of the campaign, the Lewises gave another $4 million bringing their total gift to $5 million. The PVHMC Auxiliary also made a pledge of $1 million to be used for the Cancer Care Center. An immense effort was put forth by many auxilians and volunteers to fulfill that pledge. The remaining monies raised for the Cancer Care Center came from the community at large - some large gifts and many, many smaller gifts. Each and every one of those gifts helped to bring the Cancer Center to what it is today...a beautiful facility staffed by people who care about the patients and their families. As the Cancer Care Center continues to grow, it will be important that the endowment fund also grow to help pay for the wonderful support services the Center provides.
