Rapid Medical Evaluation From 9:00 a.m. to midnight, a Physician’s Assistant or Emergency Physician is available in the Emergency Room Reception Triage Area for Rapid Medical Evaluations. This enables the emergency department team to initiate and in many cases complete a patient’s medical care in an affective and efficient manner. The patients who require more extensive evaluation and care will be assisted to the area of the Emergency Department that has the resources to best meet their needs due to their medical condition. Expert Medical Care for Children PVHMC has been designated by Los Angeles County as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP). The EDAP designation signifies that the PVHMC Emergency Room provides specialized emergency care for a child that greatly impacts the positive outcomes for our young patients. Community Leadership In addition to providing state-of-the-art, lifesaving emergency care, PVHMC’s Emergency Department serves as a Paramedic Base Station, allowing the Emergency Department staff to give medical controls to assist fire service paramedics in Pomona, Claremont, La Verne and other surrounding communities in caring for individuals in the field prior to arrival in the emergency department. Cardiac Care At PVHMC, we recognize that when it comes to a heart attack, time is crucial! The Emergency Department works hand in hand with Cardiac Services at PVHMC to evaluate, diagnose and determine the most effective treatment path for our patients who arrive with chest pain. We strive to exceed national standards for the rapid recognition and definitive treatment for our patients with cardiac disease, especially when it comes to heart attacks.
